December 5, 6 & 12 are evening performances at 7:30 p.m. while December 7, 13 & 14 are all matinees which will be at 2:30 p.m. (NOTE: The last Saturday performance, December 13, is a 2:30 p.m. matinee. A Tuna Christmas is a holiday-themed comedy play written by Ed Howard, Joe Sears, and Jaston Williams that's a sequel to Greater Tuna. The play is set in Tuna, Texas, the third-smallest town in the state, during Christmas time. The story follows radio station news personalities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie as they report on local holiday activities, including the town's annual Christmas Yard Display Contest. The play includes 24 characters, but only two actors. The show does contain adult language and mature content themes, including smoking, drinking, innuendos, and plays-on-words.
David Tinney returns to star in the show, and also directs this year. “This is our fifth year performing this play. I’m returning to the cast and this year we have Steve Golin joining me. Steve is well-known in the area onstage and we’re excited to bring back this fan favorite. And even if you’ve seen it before, this year will be a new spin, with updated set and costumes on what has turned into a family tradition for many in Garland,” said Tinney.
In addition, this year the show moves into the Granville Arts Center’s Small Theatre, 300 N. Fifth Street, in the Granville Arts Center as part of the GCT season.
