Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a co-production between Playhouse on the Square and Opera Memphis, their first collaboration since 2011, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. The story follows Benjamin Barker, a London barber unjustly sent to Australia, who returns 15 years later as Sweeney Todd seeking revenge against the corrupt Judge Turpin, enlisting the help of Mrs. Lovett to dispatch unlucky customers whose remains supply her meat-pie shop. The production is directed and choreographed by Whitney Branan with music direction by Stephen Karr. The cast includes Matthew Burns as Sweeney Todd, Amy Nabors as Mrs. Lovett, Andy Boggs as Anthony, Dawn Bradley as Johanna, Bryce Goodson as Tobias, Bill Andrews as Judge Turpin, David Schnell as Beadle, Christina Hernandez as Beggar Woman, Philip Himebook as Pirelli, and Marquis Dijon Archuleta as Fogg.
