The Short North Stage production crews built another extraordinary set for its production of August Wilson's FENCES - a ramshackle brick house proudly kept by Troy (Mujahid Abdul-Rashid) and Rose Maxson (Rita Gregory) in somewhere, Middle America. But it was a simple prop, a cloth baseball suspended by a nylon rope off an artificial tree that provided the perfect analogy for the performance.

Movement Afoot, Columbus' only dedicated tap dance ensemble, will present its first evening-length concert with Ph(r)ase 1, in two performances at theVan Fleet Theatre, August 26 and 27. In this inventive show, audiences will be treated to tap dance as the main attraction, but the program will also include live jazz and folk music, Appalachian clogging, and modern, contemporary, and Kathak dance performances by Columbus-based guest artists.

Today, theatre students of Gahanna Lincoln High School in Columbus, Ohio (with Director Cynthia Macioce) had a rare treat when members of the touring company of WICKED visited them to offer an informative talkback on the makings of a touring production. The talkback was open to members of Gahanna Lincoln High School's International Thespian Society, whose Vice President, Camille Mancuso, orchestrated the event based on her previous professional experience on tour and on Broadway.

The Board of Directors of A Portable Theatre, Inc. (APT), a professional touring theatre company based in Columbus, has decided to cease operations.  The organization's final performance, Jeffrey Hatcher's A Picasso at the Columbus Museum of Art, took place on July 8, 2016.
