Always a favorite of Cleveland audiences, the Labèques return to perform the Martin’s tour de force concerto for two pianos, full of jazzy inflections and high-speed fireworks, pausing only in the slow movement for moments of serene calm. The concert concludes with Tchaikovsky’s iconic Romeo and Juliet, whose sweeping melodies perfectly evoke the breathless passion of the two young lovers.
This program’s Concert Preview lectures will be presented by Caroline Oltmanns, Professor of Piano, The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University
