J.S. BACH Easter Oratorio J.S. BACH Sinfonia from Cantata No. 29 J.S. BACH Magnificat The Cleveland Orchestra Bright trumpet fanfares herald the opening of Bach’s Easter Oratorio, which was first performed in Leipzig in 1725. Following his all-Mozart program in the 2022–23 season, conductor Bernard Labadie returns to Severance for an all-Bach evening with The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and a roster of star soloists. Labadie pairs this festive work with Bach’s equally joyous Magnificat, which sets Mary’s song of praise from the Gospel of Luke. This program’s Concert Preview lectures will be presented by David Rothenberg, Professor of Music, Case Western Reserve University.
