In 2011, Kelly Williams-Bolar served a 10-day jail sentence for illegally sending her children to a suburban school outside of her Akron, Ohio district. The sentence disqualified Williams-Bolar from getting her accreditation as a teacher. A storm of protests, both pro and con, quickly followed the sentence and a later pardon by the governor.

The Cleveland Orchestra announces that its annual Gala concert and benefit will take place on Saturday, October 1, at 7:00 p.m., with pianist Emanuel Ax joining Music Director Franz Welser-Most and The Cleveland Orchestra in performance.  Chaired by Norma Lerner, with KeyBank Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Beth Mooney as Corporate Chair and Nancy W. McCann as Co-Chair, the annual Gala supports educational services that the Orchestra provides for the Northeast Ohio community.  The Gala evening begins with cocktails in Severance Hall's Smith Lobby at 6:00 p.m.; the concert performance begins at 7:00 p.m., and is followed by an elegant dinner in the Bogomolny-Kozerefski Grand Foyer and Smith Lobby of Severance Hall, catered by Doug Katz.

convergence-continuum continues its 2016 Season with Edward Albee's THREE TALL WOMEN. Our modern American classic for this season earned a Pulitzer and three Best Play awards for 1994. Edward Albee has, in THREE TALL WOMEN, created a masterwork which follows a feisty 92-year-old woman's reflections on her family, now departed or estranged, and how it has shaped her life, a life filled with a mixture of shame, pleasure, regret, and satisfaction. The three women are 92, 52 and 26 years old. At one point they are three different women, but eventually they become the same women at three different stages of her long and turbulent life.
