Arsenic & Old Lace

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE
By Joseph Kesselring
APRIL 30 TO MAY 24, 2026

Every family has its secrets – and it’s no different for the Brewster family! Drama critic Mortimer Brewster comes home to announce his engagement to his family, but he soon discovers that his sweet spinster aunts have been cheerfully poisoning lonely elderly men with elderberry wine (as an act of mercy!). Can Mortimer be loyal to his family and to the law? And can he prevent his bride-to-be from discovering the skeletons in the Brewster family closet? Mayhem meets the macabre in this classic black comedy.

Arsenic and Old Lace is presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by Concord Theatricals. www.ConcordTheatricals.com

Cast

April Deming
Abby Brewster
April Deming (Abby Brewster) April discovered Weathervane Playhouse shortly after her move to Ohio in 2011. Since then, it has been her home away from home. She had the opportunity to direct the 8x10 Eileen Moushey TheatreFest in 2023 and 2024, which gave her the opportunity (post-pandemic) to meet so many new actors. April and her husband Dave have four talented daughters and four beautiful grandchildren. Some of her favorite roles to date include Sonia in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Regina in The Little Foxes, and M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias. She is beyond grateful to be back on the Weathervane stage.

Martha Brewster
Tammy Carder (Martha Brewster) Tammy Carder is thrilled to return to the Weathervane stage, having previously appeared as Ellen in Over the Tavern back in 2006. Recent credits include Smoke Gets in Your House (Beth Hearn), Reunion at Hippie High (Rainy), and Murder in Black and White (Ann) at Wolf Creek Players. Favorite roles include Here on the Flight Path (Faye), Domestic Tranquility (Ethel), Sex Please, We’re Sixty (Hillary), and Arsenic and Old Lace (Abby Brewster). She spends her free time creating, crafting, painting, and enjoying time with her family. Many thanks to her family for their constant support. She would also like to thank all of you for coming to see the show, supporting community theatre, and therefore—to quote Martha—“Well, isn’t this nice?” Sit back and enjoy the show!
Scott Crim

Scott Crim (Reverend Harper; US Mortimer) Scott is excited to return to the Weathervane stage for its 91st season in Arsenic and Old Lace. In the meantime, he was a guest performer at his alma mater, the University of Mount Union, in the Theatre Department’s production of A Christmas Carol as Jacob Marley/Ghost of Christmas Future. He performed with Shakespeare at the Castle in Alliance and directed with Genesis Theatre. One of his favorite Weathervane moments was performing in Angels in America, Parts I and II as Louis Ironson in the inaugural production of the former Deitz Theatre. Thank you to all my family and friends for their support of the arts.
