Individual Giving and Special Events Manager - Ars Nova

Ars Nova seeks a strategic, innovative and entrepreneurial fundraising professional to join our team as our Individual Giving and Special Events Manager. Reporting to the Development Director, the position is a key member of our fundraising team with direct ownership over broad areas of contributed income including our Super Nova program, special benefit events like our annual Nova Ball and corporate sponsorships.Ars Nova exists to discover, develop and launch singular theater, comedy and music artists who are in the early stages of their careers. We were founded as a playground and a launch pad for emerging artists to create new work, with a dual mission to build the next generation of audiences for live entertainment by prioritizing a zeitgeist-forward aesthetic and marrying it with accessible ticket prices. (New York Times).Ars Nova is in an exciting moment of growth, with a growing number of individual donors and the need to bring more into the fold as we expand our activities with public programming across two buildings: our flex-seat development Hub uptown and our 199-seat Off Broadway theater downtown. This is a prime opportunity for a talented and ambitious development professional to make an impact on Ars Nova, the theater field at-large, and most importantly, on the lives and careers of the next generation of performing-art makers and fans. We strongly encourage candidates of color, and/or from diverse backgrounds/underrepresented groups to apply.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:?Raise over $1.5M in donations annually from individuals through major gifts, our Super Nova program, and ticket sales to benefit events.?Lead the cultivation and stewardship of Super Nova donors of $500 to $5,000, including greeting donors at the theater and scheduling pre-theater coffee/drinks with folks 3-4 nights a week during our productions (appx. 5 months out of the year).?Discover new individual prospects and innovate ways to attract new Super Nova donors.?Serve as a key liaison to our Board of Directors, including sending updates on institutional news, managing scheduling, taking minutes at key meetings, and partnering with Board Members to plan cultivation events after Off Broadway performances.?Drive forward the team?s research and moves management system for major donors and partner with the Development Director, Managing Director, and Founding Artistic Director to secure those gifts.?Spearhead all benefit events, including the annual Nova Ball, and grow event revenue through partnering with our Board of Directors and Co-Chairs, crafting strategic invitation lists, and creating marketing campaigns for single tickets, as well as being the point-person for all event logistics.?Strategize individual giving campaigns through both print and digital appeals, including drafting campaign language and crafting distribution lists of current and prospective donors.?Manage relationships with in-kind sponsors, including our airline, beer & pizza sponsors, and explore new sponsorship and partnership opportunities.?Supervise the Development Intern, and work with them in a hands-on way throughout the semester to gradually build skills and provide learning opportunities.?Be a key part of the Ars Nova Team to support over 500+ artists each year and connect them to adventurous young audiences, which will include many other ?duties as assigned.?PREPERATION, SKILLS and KNOWLEDGEThe ideal candidate will be:?Someone with 3-6 years of experience in fundraising for an arts or creative organization;?A strategic thinker with a knowledge of industry best practices for raising money, and the curiosity to bend the rules and try new things;?A people person who can passionately advocate for emerging artists and understands Ars Nova?s unique role within the NYC theater scene;?A flexible detail-oriented multi-tasker, who can prioritize a variety of projects in an ever-changing environment with skill and precision; ?A go-getter who will generate new ideas and can drive large projects forward on their own.AN EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY:Qualified candidates are invited to submit a cover letter, resume and three references to Mac Ingram, Development Director, by June 19. Ars Nova offers fair pay: we compensate both fairly and competitively within the not-for-profit entertainment industry, as well as on a transparent level salary system within the organization.
