ZAC EFRON, The Final Chapter at Token Theatre

Token Theatre Supports AAPI Community Fund with Presentation of Final Scenes from ZAC EFRON.

CHICAGO, IL -- Token Theatre, Chicago's newest Asian American theatre company, brings TV and Broadway pioneer Alan Muraoka (SESAME STREET) back to direct the final online chapter of ZAC EFRON by David Rhee, co-written by Wai Yim. The play provides a glimpse into the complexities, comedy, and contradictions of the Asian American experience. Lookingglass Theater Artistic Associate Lisa Tejero (Broadway's METAMORPHOSES, WHITE SNAKE), international actor Hansel Tan (TV's Madam Secretary, Theatre Now New York Sound Bytes festival Best Actor), join Token artist Wai Yim (TV's The Chi, WHITE SNAKE) to perform live scenes from ZAC EFRON, and host a Q&A.

Half of all proceeds from donations made to Token for ZAC EFRON, The Final Chapter will go toward the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Community Fund, supporting organizations that are actively uplifting, protecting, and supporting the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

"How far will our heroes go to get to one million followers? We're excited to invite audiences to join them as they seek love in a world driven by the ideal of Zac Efron," said Token Artistic Director David Rhee. "Through our storytelling, we want to humanize Asian Americans, and foster an environment where we are recognized as Americans."

Token launched its inaugural season with live online performances of ZAC EFRON, Part I and Part II. The final online chapter of ZAC EFRON takes on the sometimes humorous, often heavy cost of persistent masculinity narratives, and the quest for American-ness.
