Shakespeares story of the lender Shylock who proposes collateral of a pound of flesh against a loan will be set in 1938 Italy, when racial laws disenfranchised and discriminated against Italian Jews during the rise of European Fascism. The concept promises to shed new light on a classic story of revenge, justice, and mercy.
