Based on the best-selling novel that inspired the iconic film, THE NOTEBOOK tells the story of Allie and Noah, both from different worlds, who share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart. “Full of butterfly-inducing highs and beautiful songs” (Entertainment Weekly), THE NOTEBOOK is a deeply moving portrait of the enduring power of love.
Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune says THE NOTEBOOK is “absolutely gorgeous, not to be missed,” and The New York Daily News calls it “a love story for the ages.”
THE NOTEBOOK is directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal, RENT) and Schele Williams (The Wiz, Aida), and features music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, book by Bekah Brunstetter (NBC’s “This Is Us”), and choreography by Katie Spelman
The Notebook’s company does their best with the material they’re given, but without the impactful soundtrack to accompany it, the show ultimately falls short of delivering the emotional depth you might expect or desire from a generational love story.
'Our story really reminds people of the things that we have in common that are so strong and so important. The concept of love and commitment to someone and the resilience of a life together are things that we all honor.'
Broadway In Chicago announced its free annual SUMMER CONCERT at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, featuring performances from eight productions including THE NOTEBOOK, THE OUTSIDERS, WAITRESS, JERSEY BOYS, and MAYBE HAPPY ENDING.
THE NOTEBOOK, the musical based on Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel and iconic film, will play Broadway In Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre for a limited two-week engagement, featuring music by Ingrid Michaelson.
Broadway In Chicago and Metra announced a free round-trip rail promotion for nine summer productions, including CHICAGO THE MUSICAL, LES MISÉRABLES, and THE OUTSIDERS. Riders show their show ticket to the conductor for complimentary travel.
Broadway In Chicago has revealed the full season line up for the next Broadway In Chicago Subscription Series, featuring The Notebook and more. See the full lineup here!
