The Birth of the Pill at TimeLine Theatre Company

The Birth of the Pill is a world premiere play by Jessica Huang, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Jonathan Eig, and directed by Sandra Marquez. Set in the mid-20th century, the play follows feminist activist Margaret Sanger, scientist Gregory Pincus, gynecologist John Rock, and philanthropist Katharine McCormick as they work under intense secrecy to develop a contraceptive pill, while women in Puerto Rico bear the burden of clinical trials. The cast includes Janet Ulrich Brooks as Margaret Sanger, Rammel Chan as Min Chueh Chang, Mitchell J. Fain as Goody Pincus/Jonathan Eig, Mary Beth Fisher as Katharine McCormick, María Victoria Martínez as Ramona Delgado, and David Parkes. The production opens TimeLine Theatre's 30th Anniversary inaugural season at its new home at 5035 N. Broadway in Chicago's Uptown community.
