Critically-acclaimed Chicagoland singer, songwriter and keyboardist Denise La Grassa will perform selections from her forthcoming album The Flame, which honors Lady Liberty, the mother of immigrants, who offers compassion, hope and opportunity. The blues-infused song-stories explore the joys and struggles for past and present immigrants to America. The music is inspired by Patricia McGuigan, an immigrant with roots in Scotland.December 3rd reception attendees are required to wear masks when not eating or drinking, and show vaccination proof or a negative COVID test for admission. La Grassas music will be part of Chicago artist Kelly Mathews exhibit Being Bipolar in a Polarized World. Mathews says, Mental illness can be tragic and heartbreaking. It can also be beautiful. Consider Van Gogh. When he looked at the night sky, he saw The Starry Night. If he had not existed and painted, we could never share his vision. This exhibit is to celebrate those of us who see things a little differently and offer you a peek into our world.
