Village Theatre Guild Presents Neil Simon’s RUMORS

By:

Village Theater Guild will present Neil Simon's comedic farce Rumors as it's 2nd production of the company's 2011-12 season. Performance dates are from January 20 - February 11, 2012 at the VTG Theater. All tickets are $18.00.

Rumors surrounds four affluent New York couples who arrive at a tenth anniversary dinner party to discover the hostess missing, the help is missing and the host suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot in the earlobe. Complications arise as the guests try to hide the information from each other, and eventually the police.

The original Broadway production opened in 1988, won a Tony award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for Christine Baranski, and ran for 535 performances.

VTG's production is being directed by Carla Mutone and produced by David and Lisa Dolnics. "I had initially planned on directing a different play, but the rights weren't available," said director Mutone, "but Rumors was on the play reading committee's list and after reading it myself, I was convinced that we could round up a stellar cast for it-and we did!"

The Village Theatre Guild cast includes Traci Cidlik (Naperville), Jennifer Ciombor (Wheaton), Deven Ferber (Lombard), Craig Gustafson (Lombard), Ken Kaden (Naperville), Patti Shore Kaden (Naperville), Julie Rodgers-Baker (Wheaton), Vince Scalone (Lisle), JoAnn Smith (Naperville) and Tom Viskocil (Woodridge).

As an added bonus to the usual VTG performance schedule and in anticipation of the shows popularity, the Company is adding Thursday night performances to its schedule for the entire run of Rumors.

All performances will be held at the VTG Theater located near the northwest corner of Park Boulevard and Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets may be reserved by calling (630) 469-8230 or e-mailing tickets@villagetheatreguild.org.

The mission of the Village Theatre Guild is to provide opportunities, in a social atmosphere, to cultivate talents and enrich personal perspective through high-quality theatre and educational development, while fostering a sense of pride and ownership in the community. Village Theatre Guild is a non-profit community theatre founded in 1963 and based in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Email: info@villagetheatreguild.org website: www.villagetheatreguild.org
