Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch is a comedic work by Ossie Davis that follows the Reverend Purlie Victorious Judson, a charismatic Black preacher returning to his Georgia hometown. His mission is to reclaim his inheritance and win back his church while navigating the complexities of the Jim Crow era. This production is part of the North Carolina Black Repertory Company's 2025 season, which highlights the challenges and triumphs of Black patriarchs.
