Purlie Victorious features the Reverend Purlie Victorious Judson, a charismatic Black preacher returning to his Georgia hometown with plans to reclaim his inheritance and regain his church amidst the challenges of the Jim Crow era. This comedic piece by Ossie Davis explores themes of resistance and community identity while highlighting the struggles faced by Black individuals during a turbulent time in American history. The production is part of the North Carolina Black Repertory Company's 2025 season and will run from October 3 to October 19, 2025, at the Hanesbrands Theatre.
