Totem Pole Playhouse Announces Changes to Board of Directors

The newly elected chair of the Totem Pole Playhouse Board of Directors announced today changes in the composition of the board. Assuming the position of Chairperson is Dana Witt, of Vice Chairperson is Rose Tripi, and of Secretary/Treasurer is Karl Shreiner. Mary Louise Lucas will serve as Recording Secretary. Martha Walker, Esq. and Jake Kauffman CPA, have offered their professional services in an advisory capacity. The board expressed appreciation to William Gindlesperger, Maxine Gindlesperger, Nathan Rotz, and David Black for their contributions to the board during the past year.
Sophie's Lemonade Stand Nets Profit for DreamWrights

Sophie Nicholson, 11 year old entrepreneur, hosted a lemonade stand for the second year, donating her proceeds to two nonprofits: $80.32 to DreamWrights and $170.71 to the SPCA. In addition to the 'Free Lemonade for a donation,' Sophie included a Dog Biscuit Eating Challenge which 9 people (and some dogs) took part in. In case you are wondering, these were homemade, all natural dog biscuits.

Hershey Area Playhouse Announces Fall 2013 Children's Classes

Classes are offered for the grades of kindergarten-3rd from 9am-10:30am on Saturdays on September 21st -November 19th. For grades 4th-6th, classes are offered from 10:30am-noon on September 21st-November 19th. For grades 7th-12th, classes are offered from 1pm-3pm on September 21st-November 19th.

Fulton Theatre Annouces New Emerging Writers Series in Honor of Ellen A. Groff

A year following the death of beloved Fulton Theatre Trustee EmeritusEllen Arnold Groff, Fulton Theatre announces the creation of a new performance series in her honor. The Ellen Groff Studio Series will be an annual collection of performances taking place in the theatre's 4th floor studio theatre. The focus of the series will be emerging writers, new work, and challenging topics that were central to Mrs. Groff's love of the theatre art form. Marc Robin, the Fulton's Artistic Director commented, 'Ellen and I spent countless hours talking about what motivates us as artists. She loved the intellectual challenge of new work, under-represented ideas, and theatre that got your blood pumping. And she always wanted to see the 4th floor space developed in a way that built a regular audience that wanted to share her artistic tastes.'

After 20 years of entertaining Central PA, Gamut Theatre Group, the combined theatre company of Popcorn Hat Players Children's Theatre and Harrisburg Shakespeare Company, announced today that it had purchased the Harrisburg property of 15 North 4th Street, formerly The First Church of God, for the purpose of creating a permanent theatre space for the company.

Wells Fargo Bank Helps Fund DreamWrights Scholarships

Representatives Brendan Flores and Mike Brown from Wells Fargo Bank presented a check for $1,500 to Shannon Hallisey, Director of Education at DreamWrights Youth & Family Theatre. This funding partially supports the 16 scholarship students who attended camps at the theatre this summer. DreamWrights strives to provide educational arts experiences for children of all ages and backgrounds and is fortunate to have this support, thereby offering camps to young people who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Theatre Harrisburg opens its 88th season with the hilarious baseball comedy BLEACHER BUMS at the Krevsky Production Center. Opening Friday, September 6, other performances are scheduled for September 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. Show times are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. All tickets are priced at $25 except Wednesday, September 11 when all seats are only $15.
