Hershey Area Playhouse to Present A CHRISTMAS CAROL, 12/5-14

A Christmas Carol, the classic Christmas tale of a greedy humbug's last-minute redemption, ushers in the holiday season at Hershey Area Playhouse starting December 5, 2013! This original musical, based on the Charles Dickens novel, is written by Lancaster theatre veteran, Barry Kornhauser. With over 30 years of involvement with the Fulton Theatre and scores of awards, Kornhauser's works have taken the local playwright to the White House, Tony Award-winning stages, the Kennedy Center, and more.

The Story Tour, presented by World Vision, is a Christmas celebration featuring an all-star cast of some of today's top Christian recording artists including Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman, Natalie Grant, Matthew West, Nichole Nordeman, Selah and Rawsrvnt. Storybook Musical Theatre to Stage PRINCESS & THE PEA Throughout Pennsylvania

Storybook Musical Theatre, the Abington, PA-based professional Equity children's theatre company, just north of Philadelphia, will present the Hans Christian Andersen tale of a disheveled girl, who must prove she is a real princess by taking a very strange test involving twenty mattresses and a tiny pea. The family musical first plays at the Klein JCC Theater, 10100 Jamison Ave. in Philadelphia from November 23 to December 1, then at the Gratz College Theater from December 23 to December 30. It concludes it run at St. Joseph's University from January 14 to18. Tickets are $12 for children and $14 for adults. 'Thirty-Six Dramatic Situations' in Art Show and Performance Set for Today at The Ware Center

In 1895, French author Georges Polti wrote a book so well-respected that it would be translated into English in the 1920's and is still being published today. The Thirty-Six Dramatic Situations is a treatise that suggests that all fictional and dramatic stories are variations and adaptations of only thirty-six basic plots. Popular local artist Gail Gray decided to visualize through her abstract artwork some of these 36 situations and her interpretations will be on display at the Ware Center beginning First Friday, November 1 from 6 - 8 PM. Gray will be on hand to meet art-enthusiasts. Her exhibit continues at the Ware Center through the month of November. The artwork on the left is Gray's interpretation of Polti's 'Revolt.'

SOUNDS OF DESIRE to Play Ware Center, 11/5

"Sounds of Desire" is as play that features monologues by nine highly distinctive Iraqi women, all played by one in a tour-de-force, highly reviewed actress. "Sounds" tells a story of what it means to be a woman in a strongly-Muslim country - torn apart by war -- with views different form our own of a woman's place in society. Ms. Raffo will be performing the concert version of this play which was originally commissioned and performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. During this performance, she will be accompanied by acclaimed Middle Eastern instrumentalists and vocalists. The one-night-only and only-in-Lancaster performance is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 7:30 p.m., the Ware Center, 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster.
