Theatre Harrisburg & Alumni Chorale of Lebanon Valley College Salute the Best Music from the Silver Screen This Weekend

Theatre Harrisburg and The Alumni Chorale of Lebanon Valley College once again join forces for the fourth edition of their popular summer musical collaboration - A SUMMER SALUTE TO THE SILVER SCREEN. Presented at Whitaker Center, a cast of nearly 60 will perform under the musical direction of Gregg Mauroni. Featured will be some of the most popular songs from nearly a century of movies including hits from THE WIZARD OF OZ, TOP HAT, THE LION KING, SUMMER STOCK, PINOCCHIO, THE HARVEY GIRLS, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, DICK TRACY, HIT THE DECK, ALL THAT JAZZ and many, many more.

The Reading Theater Project to Present SPEAKEASY, 8/30-9/7

The Reading Theater Project has created a new play, Speakeasy, based on the history of Reading during the national prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s and 1930s. Performances will take place at the Olympian Ballroom at 603 Penn Avenue in West Reading. Opening night is August 30, 2014 at 8pm and the play runs through September 7, 2014.
Touchstone and Allentown Public Theatre Announce Actor Training Program

Touchstone Theatre founder Bill George and Allentown Public Theatre artistic director Joshua Neth announce that they will be co-teaching a year-long program of actor training starting this fall. Entitled the Valley Actor's Lab (VAL), the program seeks to provide excellent and systematic training to seriously inclined actors in the Lehigh Valley. George and Neth describe themselves as “two theatre artists who hold their love of actors and the work of the actor above all earthly things”; coming from different backgrounds and different theatre educations, they have joined teaching skills in this unique effort to advance the life of the actor in the Lehigh Valley. Their intention in creating VAL is to strengthen the work of the Valley theatre community by deepening the base of well-trained artists in the region and facilitating collaboration between producers and performers.
Hershey Community Chorus to Hold Open House, 8/11

The Hershey Community Chorus will host an open house on Monday, August 11, 2014, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the Community Room on the lower level of The Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society Building located at 40 Northeast Drive, Hershey. All are welcome. This is an opportunity for interested members of the public to learn more about the Chorus and to meet some of the current members. Wine and cheese along with other light refreshments will be served.
