be mean to me is a moving, intimate portrait of female friendship across time. Shifting between ages 17 and 27, the play follows two young women as they grow up together and apart grappling with love, ambition, and the quiet cruelty that can exist inside closeness. Tender, funny, and heartbreaking, it captures how deeply we can hurt the people who know us best.
This workshop production of be mean to me is being put on to support director Gwyneth Cole in building their graduate school portfolio. With the support of Kitchen Theatre Company and the donations of the community they have been given the ability to demonstrate their creativity and artistic style at a professional level. All ticket sales and donations directly support the production—covering pay for all members of the cast and crew, as well as design elements, performance rights, and much more. Every contribution, big or small, helps bring this show to life and moves Gwyneth one step closer to graduate school and a professional directing career.
