Hoff-Barthelson Music School Pays Tribute to Memory of Faculty Member Edmund Niemann

It is with deep sadness that Hoff-Barthelson Music School announces the death of faculty member Edmund Niemann. A supremely gifted musician, he will be sorely missed by the students whose lives he touched and by all who had the good fortune to have known him. Mr. Niemann joined the Hoff-Barthelson faculty in 1999. During his tenure with the School, he served as a member of the piano and advanced level musicianship faculties. An ardent advocate for the study and performance of contemporary music, Mr. Niemann was the coordinator of the School's annual Music of Our Time contemporary music festival. He also created the School's Performers Showcase.

Hoff-Barthelson Music School faculty members Elizabeth Condon (oboe) and Janet Grice (bassoon) will lead an intensive, hands-on workshop on the art of making reeds for the bassoon and oboe. Suitable for the beginner to the advanced student, the workshop will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 10 am to 12 noon at the School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale. The workshop is free of charge and open to the public

Over Labor Day Weekend, the Franklin Stage Company is delighted to welcome back writer-actress Patricia Buckley with her solo play 'Evolution.' With a story that blends the lives of two sisters, their mother, and the unique evolution of whales, 'Evolution' is a deeply moving, often wildly funny tale of how human beings endure, evolve and move on. Buckley performed an earlier version of 'Evolution' to sold-out houses at FSC at the start of the 2015 season, and patrons have clamored ever since for its return.
