Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown to Present LATE NITE CATECHISM 2 — SISTER STRIKE AGAIN

Following up to two sold-out performances of "Late Nite Catechism" last fall, Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown is pleased to present the sequel (of sorts) with "Late Nite Catechism 2 - Sister Strike Again!" Performances of this interactive comedy will be held on Friday, November 4 at 7:30 and Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 and 7:30 at CRT Downtown, 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland. Tickets are $32.00 for adults and $30.00 for seniors and students. Seating is cabaret style, and refreshments with a beer/wine cash bar will be available. CRT notes that audience members do not have to have seen the first installment of this series to enjoy this production.

The Late Nite Catechism series are uproarious pieces of theater that take audience members back - sometimes nostalgically, sometimes fearfully - to the children they once were. The irrepressible Sister teaches an adult catechism class to a roomful of "students" (the audience). Over the course of the play, Sister goes from benevolent instructor, rewarding the "students" for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and laminated saint cards, to authoritative drill sergeant. These abrupt mood swings are bound to strike a resonant chord with everyone who survived the ups and downs of going to school with an omniscient authoritarian at the helm. This night of comedy appeals to Catholics and non-Catholics alike, and is written such that 'Sister' explains religious references in a respectful, lighthearted way while maintaining a serious tone that isn't preachy or saccharine. The New York Times said "Late Nite Catechism speaks to an audience much broader than the membership of any one church."

Colleen Moore, a New York City actress, returns to play Sister as she did in the first installment at Cortland. Following the two-act show, Ms. Moore will greet audience members in the CRT lobby and will take a donation collection in support of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany at St. Elizabeth Mother House.
