Rochester Fringe #7 Announces 500+ Shows

Organizers of the KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival (Wednesday, September 12 - Saturday, September 22, 2018) announced the seventh annual festival's entire lineup and invited Rochester to "Join the pARTy" at their BIG REVEAL press conference yesterday. For the first time, Rochester's Fringe will span 11 days, up from 10 for the past five years.

Written by Joseph Robinette, this live performance play will have performances on Saturday July 14 and Thursday July 19 at 10:00 am. The performance on Friday July 20 is sold out.  General Admission tickets are $7.00 per person and may be purchased by calling 800-427-6160 or at the CRT Box Office at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland. Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts held Some Enchanted Evening, the 27th Annual Summer Gala in Sag Harbor on the Long Wharf on July 7, 2018, with Jane Lynch as emcee.  The event benefits Bay Street's educational and theatrical programs. The evening included special performances as well as a silent auction, cocktail party, live auction with celebrity auctioneer Richard Kind, dinner and dancing. And due to future restoration of the Long Wharf, this was the final gala to be held there.

Parallel Exit Performs At Usdan Summer Camp For The Arts

Parallel Exit, the three-time Drama Desk nominee for Unique Theatrical Experience, brought its unique brand of physical comedy to Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts.  Today's performance featured Artistic Director Mark Lonergan with Joel Jeske and Brent McBeth, shown here with a few of the Usdan campers.  They wowed the close to 1600-person crowd with an updated vaudeville style clowning which included jokes, magic and feats of wonder. The performance was presented as part of Usdan's 50th anniversary Festival series which has also included Flor de Toloache, an all female mariachi band; Mayhem Poets, and Sole Defined, among others.

Cortland Repertory Theatre invites audiences to "seize the day" with their next high-energy summer production: the hit stage version of Disney's movie musical "Newsies"! This exciting musical has music written by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein, and is based on the film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. Performances of CRT's production will be held at the Little York Pavilion in Preble, and run from July 11 - 28 with evening show times at 7:30. "Only tame birds feel longing. Wild birds fly."  Thus muses Ragnar, a recently retired small-town school principal, as he looks back on the things he never did, and tries to sort out what's ahead in this charming and wonderfully humorous play, mixing comedy, farce, drama, and an element of surprise.  Ragnar's vices are fine cigars and the occasional glass of whiskey.  Which brings him into conflict with his wife Anneli, who is trying to get him to lead a healthy life.  But is life without passion any kind of life at all?  Mix in the widowed town pastor Lars (Ragnar's faithful old friend), along with Lars daughter Monika, who shows up at the door in the midst of a possible divorce, and passions once again permeate the household.
