Bridge Street Theatre In Catskill Presents A Mini-Summer Arts Festival Next Month

The "long" weekend kicks off with an exclusive screening of local filmmaker Peter Odabashian's OLD FRIENDS, a documentary about friendship, depression, falling in love, getting older, and finding happiness. Sixteen longtime friends share their joys, their pain, and all the ways in which they wound up making the filmmaker "the happiest depressed person in the world" in this nostalgic and touching tribute to everything that's really important in life. Friday, August 3rd at 7:30 pm, Bridge Street Theatre Mainstage, 44 West Bridge Street, Catskill, NY. All tickets are $10 and go on sale at the door one half hour prior to the screening, which will be followed by a talk-back with the director.

From Thursday, July 26 to Saturday, July 28 the Hangar Theatre Company KIDDSTUFF Summer Series will be presenting Snow White adapted by Marjorie Sokoloff. This story does not begin with a beautiful princess, an evil witch or an enchanted castle: Sokoloff's rendition of Snow White begins starts with a frightened young woman alone in the world. Beyond the classic tale of the young girl who was the fairest of them all, audiences are revealed to the villain's perspective, from her tragic childhood to her quest for revenge.

The Jewish Repertory Theatre of Western New York opens its 16th season with THE STRUDEL LADY, the story of Chava, an American-born, Jewish Orthodox wife and mother, who seeks to put her life back together when she is deserted by her husband and children. Embarrassed and confused about her identity and how to support herself financially, she seeks advice from a trusted older couple, who help her find independence, self-esteem and eventually love through her skill as a baker.
Halestorm and In This Moment Come to Syracuse

SPAC Strikes Deal to Broadcast Philadelphia Orchestra Concerts

As part of Saratoga Performing Arts Center's expanding artistic collaboration with The Philadelphia Orchestra, it announced a new partnership with public radio stations WMHT in upstate New York and WRTI in Philadelphia to record and broadcast four Philadelphia Orchestra concerts in Saratoga this summer. This new series is part of a reciprocal agreement between WRTI and WMHT and marks the first time in the Orchestra's storied 52-year residency that SPAC concerts have held a dedicated broadcast slot on WMHT and the first time that Saratoga performances have aired on WRTI in Philadelphia. The live performances slated for August 8, 10, 15 and 17 will be conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin, music director of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and will feature soloists Janai Brugger, the Jussen 'Piano Brothers,' Jennifer Koh, Serhiy Salov and Joshua Bell.
Franklin Stage Co Will Present Julian Fleisher & Circus Minimus

Franklin Stage Company will present a weekend packed with music and laughter, starting with a performance by NY cabaret sensation Julian Fleisher and His Rather Big Band on Friday, August 3rd at 7:30pm. A Saturday afternoon show follows at 2:00pm for Circus Minimus, a one-man circus in a suitcase, written and performed by Kevin O'Keefe. Saturday August 4th at 7:30m Fleisher takes the stage again, followed by an encore performance of Circus Minimus on Sunday Aug 5 at 3:00pm.

Cortland Repertory Theatre invites audiences to "seize the day" with their next high-energy summer production: the hit stage version of Disney's movie musical "Newsies"! This exciting musical has music written by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein, and is based on the film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White.  Performances of CRT's production will be held at the Little York Pavilion in Preble, and run from July 11 - 28 with evening show times at 7:30.  Matinees are available on July 13, 15, 18, 22, and 25 at 2:00 PM.  Tickets may be purchased by calling 800-427-6160 or by visiting the CRT Box Office at 24 Port Watson Street in downtown Cortland. Tickets are also available for sale 24 hours a day through the CRT website at www.cortlandrep.org, using the online service ETix. CRT cautions that this is the only approved online ticket service; other online sites charge significantly higher rates for tickets and are NOT approved by CRT.
