Mother, Superior is a solo show by NYC comedian Michael John Ciszewski that blends stand-up, storytelling, and interactive game show as Michael John petitions the Vatican to make his living mother an immortal saint in exactly one hour. Beneath his signature comedic style is a heartfelt coming-of-age story in which Ciszewski reclaims Catholic ritual for the queer community and unpacks a lifetime of millennial baggage, from childhood punishments to adult interventions. The show honors the legacy of his mother, a frontline NYC nurse during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, and asks whether our parents would rather we achieve fame or simply return their calls.
