Popular Broadway actress and Helen Hayes Award winner NATASCIA DIAZ (Man of La Mancha; Seussical; ...tick tick Boom) has replaced Pippin's Ariana DeBose in Tim Realbuto's Wunderkind at the October 13th Beechman performance. Realbuto, the award winning performer and co-writer of Ghostlight the musical, has been touring his successful (not-so-solo) solo show about his life growing up in the theatre since July. The next stop on the tour is Monday, October 13th at The Laurie Beechman Theatre at 7:00 PM, now with Ms. Diaz in tow. Ms. DeBose has regretfully left the production due to a family issue, but hopes to join the production again next month at the Joe's Pub show.

Diaz has performed in a version of Wunderkind before in the same track that she will be doing at the Beechman show on the 13th. (The picture here shows Realbuto and Diaz doing that same difficult scene in his July show at 54 Below).

Wunderkind started as Tim Realbuto: Alone (With Plenty of Help), which enjoyed a sold-out run at 54 Below in July. The re-named and revamped version made its first stop at The Triad Theatre on Monday, September 1st, which happened to be Tim's 30's birthday. The tour continues October 13th at the Beechman, and November 2nd at Joe's Pub, with plans to bring the show to Orlando in late December.

This is how Wunderkind is described: "Former child "star" and current NYC based award-winning writer and performer Tim Realbuto (Ghostlight; The Emperor's Club) has just turned 30 and is struggling with where he fits in the world, where he has been and where he is going. In this deeply personal, poignant, and hilarious show Tim will tell the (mostly) true story of how he grew up in show business and went from former child actor to the adult writer of the popular new Broadway-Bound musical Ghostlight. Some of Tim's famous Broadway friends will help him along the way, playing different characters from his past, as well as the voices in his head. Expect an evening filled with plenty of well- known tunes, originals, diva impressions, and special guest appearances from popular stars of stage and screen. Was Tim ever a wunderkind? Is it too late to become one now? Isn't that the funniest sounding word ever? Oh, who cares? It looks good on a poster, right?" Tim Realbuto: Wunderkind is written and conceived by Realbuto, with musical direction provided by Julianne B. Merrill. Stage movement is by Michael Kidney, with Realbuto at the helm as director.

Aside from the newly announced Natascia Diaz, special guests for the October 13th performance include the previously announced Two-time Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Cinderella), Drama Desk Award nominee Christine Pedi (Chicago), Jenna Leigh Green ("Sabrina, the Teenage Witch"), Laurissa Romain (South Pacific), Kimberly Faye Greenberg (Danny and Sylvia), and Tim's Ghostlight co-writer Matthew Martin. The ensemble will feature David Colston Corris (Avenue Q), Julie D'Moure (C'est la Vie), Chris Jehnert (Hairspray), newcomer Thomas Ian Johnson, Justin Anthony Long ("City of Dreams"), and Allison St. Rock (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). As previously reported, Derek Klena, also originally slated to appear on the 13th, has left the production due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, but will most likely appear at next month's Joe's Pub show.
