WeatherNation No Longer Available on DIRECTV August 1
WeatherNation TV, Inc., a multi-format 24/7 local and national television weather news provider, was informed this week that AT&T/DIRECTV will no longer carry WeatherNation TV onAug. 1.
"Ever since DIRECTV posted publicly that they would no longer carry WeatherNation as of Aug 1, we've been bombarded by viewers expressing their frustration and asking us why?," said WeatherNation President Michael Norton. "I wish we could give them an answer, but we're just as shocked and dismayed as they are. It's an unfortunate decision by DIRECTV, especially given overwhelming customer engagement and the fact that they offered no terms by which they would continue carrying the service."
DIRECTV's Chief Content Officer had previously praised WeatherNation for providing "more in-depth local and severe weather coverage than any other TV provider." DIRECTV also emphasized WeatherNation's unique ability to deliver Severe Weather Mix, which offers multiple screens in one channel during severe storms to give viewers comprehensive coverage of major weather events.
"We'd like to thank the countless viewers that view our service day-in and day-out on DirecTV," added Norton. "Thank you for sharing with us what WeatherNation means to you and what you love about WeatherNation, but most of all, thank you for letting us be the service you depended on daily. We will continue to focus on providing the most robust, all-weather news and information channel available in the market."
