Telemundo Presents HAND IN HAND to Benefit Victims of Hurricane Harvey and Irma

Telemundo Network announced it has joined forces with the Red Cross to help raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Irma in Florida. Complementing the continuous news coverage led by national Telemundo News anchor Jose Díaz-Balart and the local Houston, Miami and Puerto Rico station's news reporting teams, the combined awareness and fundraising initiative will help collect funds for the victims of the devastating hurricanes, a large number of which are Hispanics, through www.elpoderenti.com/cruzroja or by calling 1-800-596-6567. Donors can also contribute by texting the word IRMA to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

"Thanks to the generosity of Telemundo, the Red Cross will be able to continue to provide our needed services to those impacted by Hurricane Irma," said Anna Trefethen, Vice President Southeast and Caribbean, Red Cross. "Currently, Red Cross is focusing on providing safe shelter and feeding people. We will also be offering emotional support, health services, and distributing emergency relief supplies such as comfort kits and cleaning supplies. Under the banner of its award-winning corporate social responsibility initiative, "El Poder En Ti" (The Power in You) the Telemundo network will help to create awareness through its programming and resources across its on-air and digital platforms.

Telemundo's cable network Universo will also broadcast the one-hour "Hand in Hand: a benefit for hurricane relief" telethon for Harvey and Irma victims at 8pm ET onTuesday, September 12th. The benefit telethon will air live from Los Angeles, New York, San Antonio and NASHVILLE and will be carried on multiple networks, including ABC, CBS, FOX, HBO, NBC and Bravo, and live-stream via Facebook, Youtube and Twitter, featuring more than 60 celebrity supporters. Confirmed Latino celebrities to participate include J Balvin, Eva Longoria, Gerardo Ortiz and Sofia Vergara, among many others such as Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, George Clooney, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Robert De Niro, Drake, Hilary Duff, Jamie Foxx, Richard Gere, and many more.

Led by NOTICIAS TELEMUNDO anchor José Díaz-Balart, NOTICIAS TELEMUNDO deployed a special news operation to deliver Hurricane Irma coverage. Telemundo Noticias also collaborated with local station Telemundo 51 Miami (WSCV) to report on Hurricane Irma and its impact in Florida.
