Telemundo Deportes, the Spanish-language home of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, presents exclusive broadcast of four key matches in the final two days of the hexagonal. The broadcast includes Costa Rica vs. Honduras on Friday, October 6, and all three matches on Tuesday, October 10: Honduras vs. Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago vs. USA, and Panama vs. Costa Rica.
The broadcast of the matches will be complemented by "Rumbo al Mundial: Objetivo Rusia," the one-hour studio show bringing the latest on the World Cup qualifiers with the analysis of
Telemundo Deportes' soccer experts.
Additional coverage will also include special content across Telemundo, Universo and
Telemundo Deportes' digital platforms.
With Mexico already qualified, there are only two remaining spots for a direct pass to the FIFA World Cup next summer. Costa Rica stands strong in second place, turning this round into a three-way battle between Panama,
USA and Honduras. The team that falls into fourth place will still have a chance to be in Russia next year by facing the winner of the Australia vs Syria playoff match.
Programming Highlights:
On Friday, October 6, Universo will telecast Costa Rica vs. Honduras beginning with a 30-minute pre-game show hosted by Ana Jurka at 9:30 p.m. ET. Copán Álvarez will lead the play-by-play alongside the analysis of Carlos Hermosillo. In addition, Sammy Sadovnik will present live reports from Orlando following the
USA vs. Panama match.
On Sunday, October 8 at 12:30 p.m. ET "Rumbo al Mundial: Objetivo Rusia" returns to
Telemundo with Andrés Cantor, Sammy Sadovnik, Copán Álvarez, Carlos Hermosillo, Manuel Sol and Miguel Gurwitz presenting a one-hour preview, ahead of Tuesday's matches, including analysis, highlights and interviews.
The qualifiers continue on Tuesday, October 10 with the exclusive broadcast of all three final matches. Coverage kicks off with a 30-minute pre-game show, hosted by Miguel Gurwitz and Ana Jurka, simulcast on
Telemundo and Universo at 7 p.m. ET. Following the show,
Telemundo will broadcast Honduras vs. Mexico with Cantor, Sol and Álvarez calling the action, while Universo will carry Trinidad & Tobago vs.
USA with the commentary of Sadovnik and Hermosillo.
In addition, Panama takes on Costa Rica at 8:00 p.m. ET, live on the
Telemundo Deportes En Vivo app.
The evening concludes with a live edition of "Rumbo Al Mundial: Objetivo Rusia" at 12 a.m. ET on Telemundo, with Gurwitz, Cantor, Sol, Hermosillo, Sadovnik and Álvarez recapping the fixture and final results.
