TV's New UNSCRIPTED LOOKS to be Explained by ICG Camera Panel at Cine Gear Expo

A panel from the International Cinematographers Guild (ICG, IATSE Local 600), will discuss "The Reality of Creating Unscripted Looks" at this year's Cine Gear Expo to be held at Paramount Studios' Sherry Lansing Theater, on June 2, starting at 10:15 a.m.

To meet the demands of unscripted TV audiences, camera operators, directors of photography and lighting directors are combining real-time visual know-how with unique, predesigned approaches to storytelling. The end result is a new, multi-faceted TV aesthetic that ranges from fresh takes on "realism" to polished awards show patinas, all looks that are increasingly in demand by traditional episodic and motion picture filmmakers.

Attendees will learn from some of the best in the biz how they manage the day, compose, light, capture and interpret the action, and coordinate with other departments to create a palette of new "unscripted looks."

President Steven Poster, ASC said, "Cine Gear Expo in Los Angeles has become one of the most important ways our members can learn about new equipment and technologies we will all be working with in the very near future."

Panelists are Derth Adams, camera operator/director of photography (Cutthroat Kitchen, Fear Factor, The Chair); Michael Dean, director of photography/camera operator (Survivor, Planet Primetime, Meet the World, Eat the World); Oscar Dominguez, lighting director (The Voice, Shark Tank); Keith A. Garcia, CAS audio supervisor, (Bald Sound, Hell's Kitchen, Project Runway, MasterChef); and Gretchen Warthen, camera operator/director of photography (Operation Change, The Real L Word, East LA Interchange).

Michael Chambliss, production technology specialist, International Cinematographers Guild, will moderate.
