Racial Discrimination Suit Against Paula Deen Dismissed

By:

The racial discrimination lawsuit that caused Paula Deen to lose her contract with Food Network (and many others) has been dismissed.

A federal judge in Georgia threw out the suit today, stating that the plaintiff, Lisa Jackson, had no grounds to sue both Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, according to People. Jackson also filed a sexual harrassment suit against the beleagured culinary figure - it was not struck down.

"We are pleased with the court's ruling today that Lisa Jackson's claims of race discrimination have been dismissed," Deen's representative said in a statement this afternoon. "As Ms. Deen has stated before, she is confident that those who truly know how she lives her life know that she believes in equal opportunity, kindness and fairness for everyone."

Deen's long-standing contract with the Food Network was not renewed earlier this summer when the 66-year-old admitted to using racial slurs in a court deposition. She has also lost a host of lucrative endorsement deals, including Wal Mart and Smithfield Foods, in the past several months due to the revelations.
