Peter Alexander Joins TODAY as New Saturday Anchor

NBC News' Peter Alexander will join Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer on Today as a weekend co-anchor, according to The Hollywood Reporter and an announcement from the network on Saturday.

Alexander stopped by the show on Saturday to announce the news.

"We are so excited to announce that Peter is officially joining the Saturday Today team. Congratulations," co-anchor Jones said.

"I've been watching this show since I was a kid and I am so honored, I'm so grateful to share this set with you guys," Alexander, a fifteen-year veteran of the news network, said, "I've learned so much from so many people in this system."

The 42-year-old Emmy-winning journalist joined NBC News in 2004, covering numerous international stories, including Iraq's historic 2005 election and Osama bin Laden's death, according to NBC. He also served as NBC News' White House correspondent since 2012.
