NBC Wins Wednesday Night with Christmas Programming, Fox Wins Demo with EMPIRE

FOX (4.357 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) held off the demo competition on a tight Wednesday with new episodes from "Empire" (5.048 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T2) and "Star" (3.666 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7).

CBS (6.073 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then was a close second with a new "Survivor: David vs. Goliath" (8.023 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1), a second "Survivor: David vs. Goliath" (7.100 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T2) and a repeat "Magnum P.I." (3.095 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12).

Next up was NBC (7.034 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its holiday specials "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" (8.376 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4) and "A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy" (4.351 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

Meanwhile, ABC (4.080 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) was back with originals from "The Goldbergs" (4.963 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6), "American Housewife" (4.364 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #8), "Modern Family" (4.818 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4), "Single Parents" (3.400 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #9) and "A Million Little Things" (3.468 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

And finally, new episodes of "Riverdale" (1.277 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12) and "All American" (0.767 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) on The CW (1.022 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," 0.4/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
