mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, today announced that Fall Out Boy will be the first-ever inductee into the "Hall of Wood" during the "2015 mtvU Woodie Awards" on MTV Friday, March 20 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT from the 2015 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. The new honor celebrates artists who have used the "mtvU Woodie Awards" as a launching pad to achieve chart-topping success and global stardom, all while sticking to their roots and maintaining their loyal fan base. Fall Out Boy recently launched their massive sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and peaked at No. 1 in 22 countries. The band will play a career-spanning set of new hits and fan favorites at the awards show, and join Big Sean and Years & Years as performers for the "2015 mtvU Woodie Awards."

"The Woodies are a part of Fall Out Boy's story, we've been together since the start and we're excited to be the first inductees to the 'Hall of Wood.' It means a lot to us," said Pete Wentz.

"No band embodies the spirit of the Woodies more than Fall Out Boy," said Gina Esposito, "mtvU Woodie Awards" Executive Producer. "They were among the first artists to win a Woodie as they went from playing dorm rooms to filling arenas. And through it all they've maintained their relevancy in so many meaningful ways with our audience. We're proud to celebrate their legacy and staying power through changing trends and technology over the past decade by inducting them into the 'Hall of Wood.'"

Fall Out Boy claimed the "Streaming Woodie" award at the first-ever "mtvU Woodie Awards" in 2004 for "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy" and followed with another win in 2005 for "Road Woodie." The band has also presented awards at the Woodies and will perform at the show for the first time this year.

Fall Out Boy has cemented its position as one of rock music's biggest-selling bands. The band's sixth studio album American Beauty/American Psycho released on Island Records & DCD2 Records and debuted with more than 218,000 units consumed. The album's first single, "Centuries," has been certified platinum and has more than 80 million streams between Youtube and Spotify alone. The band is currently on a global tour in support of the record. Fall Out Boy will cross the U.S. this summer headlining the Boys of Zummer tour with fellow Woodie Award-winner Wiz Khalifa. Hailing from Chicago, Fall Out Boy-Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Trohman (guitar) and Andy Hurley (drums)-have appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone and other prestigious publications.
