CBS THIS MORNING Posts Network's Closest Competitive Position to NBC in 22 Years

CBS THIS MORNING delivered CBS's closest competitive position to NBC in more than 22 years, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending July 29. CBS THIS MORNING was also the only broadcast morning news program to post year-to-year gains in viewers, adults 25-54, women 25-54 and women 18-49. The broadcast also delivered CBS's best audience during a July sweep period in at least 22 years.
For the week ending July 29, CBS THIS MORNING delivered 3.22 million viewers (+3%, from 3.13m last year) and was up +14% with adults 25-54 (0.8/07 from 0.7/07), +13% in women 25-54 (0.9/07 from 0.8/07) and +20% in women 18-49 (0.6/06 from 0.5/05). By comparison, for the week ending July 29, NBC was down -6% in viewers (3.83m from 4.07m), -6% in women 25-54 and -8% with women 18-49. Likewise, ABC posted double-digit percentage declines across the board. ABC was down -10% in viewers (4.15m from 4.59m), -21% in adults 25-54, -17% in both women 25-54 and women 18-49. CBS THIS MORNING cut the gap with NBC by 329,000 viewers to 616,000 viewers separating the two broadcasts, compared to the same week a year ago. CBS THIS MORNING cut the deficit with ABC by 526,000 viewers to a margin of 933,000 viewers between the two. Television year-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING is the only network morning news broadcast to post gains in viewers and key women demos, while ABC and NBC posted declines, according to Nielsen most current ratings. CBS THIS MORNING is up +8% in viewers (3.62m from 3.36m), + 13% in adults 25-54 (0.9/07 from 0.8/07) + 11% in women 25-54 (1.0/07 from 0.9/07), +17% in women 18-49 (0.7/06 from 0.6/06), compared with last year.
