Arnold Schwarzenegger To Star In Upcoming Amazon Western Series

According to Variety, Arnold Schwarzenegger could be joining the cast of upcoming Amazon produced western series OUTRIDER. The former California governor is also executive producing the series currently in development Amazon Studios.

OUTRIDER is co-written and exec produced by CSI: NY's Trey Calloway and Mark Montgomery, Outrider is a mystery set in the late 1800s in Oklahoma's Indian Territory. Mace Neufeld is also attached as an EP. OUTRIDER revolves around a deputy who, under orders from a brutal judge, must catch a legendary outlaw in the wilderness while also partnering with a ruthless federal marshal to make sure that justice is properly served. Schwarzenegger will star as the federal marshal who immigrated from Europe to the U.S. as a kid.

This will be Schwarzenegger's first TV series regular star. The actor first gained fame as a body builder, using that as a launching point to become a huge Hollywood star and, later, the governor of California. Schwarzenegger received a Golden Globe Award for Best Newcomer for his performance in Stay Hungry (1976). With his intense physical strength and size, Schwarzenegger was a natural for action films. He became a leading figure in several popular 1980s action movies, including Conan the Barbarian (1982). Schwarzenegger also starred as a deadly machine from the future in The Terminator(1984). The science-fiction drama spawned two sequels-Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003). Since his time as Governor, Schwarzenegger has appeared in several movies such as The Expendables franchise and as serving as host for NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.
