Aaron Sorkin Reveals Storyline for WEST WING Reboot on NBC

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, award-winning writer Aaron Sorkin reveals plans for a possible reboot of his hit NBC political drama THE WEST WING. The Oscar winner tells the site that the revival would involve "Sterling K. Brown as the president, and there's some kind of jam, an emergency, a very delicate situation involving the threat of war or something, and [President] Bartlett [played by Martin Sheen], long since retired, is consulted in the way that Bill Clinton used to consult with Nixon."

While he admits he has not figured out how the rest of the original cast members like Bradley Whitford and Allison Janney would be featured in the storyline, he makes it clear that the revival would definitely not include a character based on Donald Trump. "Trump is exactly what he looks like," he explains. "A really dumb guy with an observable psychiatric disorder."

As BWW reported earlier today, Sorkin also share in the interview that he has decided to delay the planned Spring 2018 airdate of NBC's live telecast of A FEW GOOD MEN. He admits he has been challenged to find a way to make the 1980's-set work feel fresh.
