ABC's WORLD NEWS Cuts Total Viewing Gaps

For the week of April 29, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 7.31 million Total Viewers and a 1.5 rating/7 share/1.78 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "World News" grew its Total Viewer audience versus the year-earlier week (+4%, 7.03 million on w/o 4/30/12) for the 7th week running. In fact, "World News" has built on its overall audience year to year in 18 of the past 19 weeks.

Year to year, "World News" narrowed its margins with "NBC Nightly News" in both Total Viewers (-19%, 616,000 vs. 761,000) and Adults 25-54 (-5% - 281,000 vs. 297,000).

For the 2nd week in a row, "World News" cut its week-to-week Adults 25-54 margin with "NBC Nightly News" by double digits (-12%, 281,000 vs. 320,000) to post its closest demo performance with the NBC newscast in 5 weeks - since w/o 3/25/13.

Season to date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+3%) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 2 years - since the 2010-11 season. "World News" narrowed its margins with "NBC Nightly News" among both Total Viewers (-27%) and Adults 25-54 (-9%) to post its smallest margins in Total Viewers (794,000) and Adults 25-54 (331,000) with the NBC program in 4 years - since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "World News" beat "CBS Evening News" by 1.08 million Viewers and 200,000 A25-54.
