ABC WORLD NEWS Averages 6.8 Million Viewers, Week of 8/12

For the week of August 12, 2013 "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 6.896 million Total Viewers and a 1.5 rating/6 share/1.774 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "World News" turned in Adult 25-54 gains compared to both the previous week (1.761 million on w/o 8/5/13) and the year-ago week (1.755 million on w/o 8/13/12). In fact, "World News" stood as the only evening newscast to build on its news demo audience year to year, as both the "CBS Evening News" (-15%) and "NBC "Nightly News" (-14%) posted double-digit losses.
World News" beat NBC's "Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 twice during the week, rankingNo. 1 on Tuesday (+30,000 - 2.149 million vs. 2.119 million) and Thursday (+240,000 - 1.878 million vs. 1.638 million). In 4 of the last 5 weeks, "World News" has beaten "Nightly News" at least two times head to head during the course of a week. In addition, "World News" scored the week's No. 1 newscast in Adults 25-54 with its Tuesday airing. Further, Thursday's head-to-head victory produced "World News'" largest single-day advantage over a "Nightly News" telecast in nearly 5 years - since 11/18/08, based on regular telecasts.
