ABC Takes the Top Spot in Late-Night in Adults 18-49

During the sixth week of its new lineup of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at 11:35 p.m. and "Nightline" at 12:35 a.m. (week of February 11, 2013), ABC stood as the No. 1 network in late-night in Adults 18-49 (784,000), taking the top spot in 5 of 6 weeks with its new lineup. Overall, ABC has ranked No. 1 in 15 of the 21 weeks this season in young adults-more than doubling the wins of NBC (4) and CBS (2) combined. ABC held double-digit advantages over its broadcast rivals, beating CBS by 15% (684,000) and widening its lead over NBC for the 2nd straight week (+10% - 715,000).

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" (M-F 11:35 p.m.)
During the week of February 11, 2013, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" grew week to week in both Total Viewers (+1% - 2.498 million vs. 2.478 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7% - 930,000 vs. 867,000) to deliver its best performance in 3 weeks in the young adult demo - since the week of 1/21/13. "JKL" also saw enormous gains over the same week last year (1.768 million and 665,000 on w/o 2/13/12) of 41% in Viewers and 40% among young adults, growing year over year in each week since moving to 11:35 p.m.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" was the week's No. 1 broadcast talk show in late-night among Adults 18-34 (330,000), beating NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" by 4% (316,000) and CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman" by 25% (263,000). In fact, "JKL" claimed the top broadcast in late-night among Adults 18-34 with its Thursday telecast (430,000 on 2/14/13).

Narrowing the gap for the 2nd week in a row, ABC's "JKL" ran in a near tie with NBC's "The Tonight Show" among Adults 18-49 (930,000 vs. 1.006 million), with just 76,000 young adult viewers separating the two programs during the week (versus 118,000 the prior week).

ABC's "JKL" beat CBS' "The Late Show" by 8% in Adults 18-49 (930,000 vs. 864,000), marking the ABC program's 5th win in 6 weeks over "Letterman."

On average through its first six weeks at 11:35 p.m., ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" stands just 68,000 Adult 18-49 viewers from NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (983,000 vs. 1.051 million). In fact, "JKL" has slashed nearly all of its young adult gap with the NBC program versus its gap during the same six weeks last year (-86% - 68,000 vs. 492,000). "JKL" outdelivers CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman" by 113,000 Adult 18-49 viewers (+13% - 983,000 vs. 870,000).

ABC's "JKL" is the No. 1 broadcast talk show in late-night among Adults 18-34 (352,000), topping NBC's "The Tonight Show" by 7% (329,000) and CBS' "The Late Show" by 26% (280,000).

Six weeks into its new 11:35 p.m. time slot, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" is up over its performance through this point last year by 60% in Total Viewers (2.763 million vs. 1.726 million), by 47% in Adults 18-49 (983,000 vs. 668,000) and by 50% in Adults 18-34 (352,000 vs. 234,000), standing as the only late-night broadcast talk show to improve year over year in all 3 Nielsen measures.

"Nightline" (M-F 12:35 a.m.)
For the week of February 11, 2013, ABC's "Nightline" drew 1.509 million Total Viewers, 687,000 Adults 25-54 and 529,000 Adults 18-49, according to Nielsen Media Research. For the 5th time in the 6 weeks in its new time period, the ABC late-night program beat CBS' "The Late Late Show" across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+11,000), Adults 25-54 (+26,000) and Adults 18-49 (+30,000).

"Nightline" saw week-to-week increases in Adults 25-54 (+1%) and Adults 18-49 (+8%) - 682,000 and 490,000, respectively, on w/o 2/4/13.
