ABC Hits 6-Week High in Adults 18-49

ABC was up by double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+11% - 4.1 million vs. 3.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (+10% - 1.1/3 vs. 1.0/3) to a 5-week high in viewers and a 6-week high in young adults - since the weeks of 8/4/14 and 7/28/14, respectively.

  • "Shark Tank Week" boosted the 10 o'clock hour for ABC. On average across the 5-night event (9/7-9/11/14), "Shark Tank Week" improved the 10 o'clock hour for ABC, growing 29% in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3 vs. 0.7/2) over programming on the five comparable year-ago nights (9/8-9/12/13).

Monday

"Bachelor in Paradise" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 5.4 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49):

From 8:00-10:01 p.m., the Season 1 finale of "Bachelor in Paradise" was up over the prior week in Total Viewers (+8% - 5.4 million vs. 5.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% - 1.4/4 vs. 1.3/4), hitting a series high in Total Viewers. "Bachelor in Paradise" outdrew the season finale of NBC's "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (3.7 million and 1.0/3, respectively) in both measures. In addition, "Bachelor in Paradise" outdrew the season closer of NBC's "American Ninja Warrior" (5.3 million) in Total Viewers.

  • ABC's season finale of "Bachelor in Paradise" was again the No. 1 most social series on broadcast TV Monday night with 30,913 tweets, up 77% week to week.
  • On average during its first season run, "Bachelor in Paradise" ranked as the No. 2 new broadcast series of the summer in Adults 18-49 (1.7/5), behind only NBC's "America's Got Talent"-fueled "The Night Shift" (1.9/6).

Tuesday

"Extreme Weight Loss" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 4.0 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49):

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's season finale of "Extreme Weight Loss" grew week to week in Total Viewers (+33% - 4.0 million vs. 3.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (+22% - 1.1/3 vs. 0.9/3), hitting 4-week highs on both counts and drawing its 2nd-largest overall audience since the beginning of June - since 8/12/14 and 6/3/14, respectively. Head to head in its 2-hour time period, ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" beat Fox's "Utopia" time slot premiere and the season finale of "Hotel Hell" by 1.6 million viewers (4.0 million vs. 2.4 million) and by 22% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/3 vs. 0.9/3).

"Shark Tank-SR" (10:00-11:00 pm - 3.4 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):

On Night 3 of ABC's "Shark Tank Week," a repeat "Shark Tank" dominated the final hour of CBS' 2-hour "Fashion Rocks" special by 50% in Total Viewers (3.4 million vs. 2.2 million) and by 67% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.6/2).

Wednesday

"Shark Tank-SR" (10:16-11:17 p.m. - 3.6 million and 1.0/4 in AD18-49):

On Night 4 of ABC's "Shark Tank Week," a repeat "Shark Tank" (1.0/4) in the 10 o'clock hour outdelivered CBS' first-run "Extant" (0.8/3) and NBC's season finale of "Taxi Brooklyn" (0.8/3) by 25% each among Adults 18-49.

Friday

"Last Man Standing - R" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 4.5 million and 0.9/4 in AD18-49):

Back-to-back repeats of "Last Man Standing" made ABC the most-watched network in the 8 o'clock hour (4.5 million) and the No. 1 major network among Adults 18-49 (0.9/4). "Last Man Standing" dominated Fox's first-run "Utopia" (2.0 million and 0.7/3) from 8:00-9:00 p.m. by 125% in Total Viewers and 29% in Adults 18-49.

"Shark Tank - R" (9:00-10:01 p.m. - 4.3 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49): ABC's "Shark Tank" grew over the prior week's repeat by 22% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 vs. 0.9/3) to match its highest repeat number since early June - since 6/6/14.

Saturday

ABC Saturday Prime (8:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.9 million and 1.4/5 in AD18-49):

With COLLEGE FOOTBALL coverage (Tennessee at Oklahoma), ABC was the No. 1 network on Saturday in Adults 18-49 (1.4/5), dominating both NBC (0.9/3) and FOX (0.8/3) with COLLEGE FOOTBALL coverage by 56% and 75%, respectively. Airing from 8:07-11:51 p.m., "Saturday Night Football" ranked as the night's No. 1 TV program for the 2nd telecast in a row in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5).

Sunday

"The 2015 MISS AMERICA Competition" (9:00-11:00 p.m. - 7.1 million and 1.7/5 in AD18-49):

Opposite stiff competition from NBC's SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (Chicago-San Francisco) and CBS' NFL overrun-inflated lineup, ABC's Sunday 9:00-11:00 p.m. broadcast of "The 2015 MISS AMERICA Competition" jumped over its lead-in and gained 1.6 million viewers and 20% in Adults 18-49 from its first half-hour to its final half-hour. During its final half-hour from 10:30-11:00 p.m., as Miss New York Kira Kazantsev was crowned, "The MISS AMERICA Competition" drew 7.8 million viewers and a 1.8 rating, 5 share with young adults.

  • In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, ABC earned its strongest entertainment numbers in the time slot in 4 months - since the "Billboard Music Awards" on 5/18/14.
  • ABC's "Miss America" topped NBC's 2014 broadcast of "Miss USA" by 1.5 million viewers and 21% in Adults 18-49 (5.6 million and 1.4/4 on 6/8/14).
