A24’s PILLION Sets Streaming Debut with Unrated Version on HBO Max

A24’s Pillion will make its streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max in the U.S. on Friday, June 5. An unrated version of the film will also be available to stream on the same day. The movie will debut on HBO linear on Saturday, June 6 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Written and directed by Harry Lighton, the queer romance follows a timid man (Harry Melling) who is swept off his feet when an enigmatic, leather-clad biker (Alexander Skarsgård) takes him on as his submissive.
Pillion premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and earned several accolades, including a Best Adapted Screenplay award at the 2025 Gotham Awards and a Directors Guild of America (DGA) nomination for Best First-Time Theatrical Feature Film. In February, the movie saw a limited theatrical release in the US, with a San Francisco premiere at the historic Castro Theatre. Check out photos from that event here.
Harry Lighton is a British writer-director based in London. In 2017, he co-wrote and directed the short film Wren Boys, which went on to be nominated for Best British Short at the 2018 BAFTAs. It was also nominated for a BIFA, won Best UK Short at the UK Film Festival, and had its US Premiere at Sundance.
