Park Central New York, one of Midtown Manhattan's iconic landmark properties, today transformed their prominent facade into a beacon of pink light, leveraging Park Central's prominent location, in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As part of the initiative, Park Central is encouraging its employees to get involved with the cause with the launch of the 'Blue Jeans for Breast Cancer' campaign during the month of October to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Throughout the month of October, employees across all departments of Park Central will be given the opportunity wear blue jeans to work in lieu of their standard business attire in support of breast cancer awareness and will donate $10 directly to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Park Central Goes Pink team for every day they wear blue jeans to work.
"One of Park Central's greatest features, is our centralized location in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. By 'going pink' and illuminating our facade with pink lighting, we can draw considerable awareness to breast cancer during the month of October and do our part to fight the disease," said Park Central General Manager, Don Fraser.
"We also wanted to take our internal involvement to the next level with the 'Blue Jeans for Breast Cancer' campaign and give our employees the opportunity to actively demonstrate their support and participate in the cause," added Director of Marketing and Sales, Ryan O'Byrne.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in the U.S., other than skin cancer, with the chance of a woman developing invasive breast cancer at some time in her life is about 1 in 8. In 2014, approximately 232,670 women will be diagnosed. Proceeds generated via the Park Central 'Blue Jeans for Breast Cancer' campaign, will help to fund Making Strides Against Breast Cancer's initiatives that include breast cancer research grants, free patient/caregiver services, provision of in-depth cancer information, and support legislative advocacy to make sure cancer patients have access to the care they need.
