Actress Kathy Garver, who is best-known for her role of "Cissy" on the classic CBS sitcom "Family Affair," will share stories from her career in Hollywood, during "An Afternoon with Kathy Garver" at The Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, November 21st.

"Family Affair" was among the highest-rated television series from 1966-71. The show starred Brian Keith as New York bachelor "Bill Davis," whose orphaned niece "Cissy" and her young siblings "Buffy" (Anissa Jones) and "Jody" (Johnny Whittaker) live with him. Sebastian Cabot costarred as "Mr. French," the butler. A pendant necklace worn by Garver in the episode "Flower Power," in which Cissy explores the hippie culture, is displayed in the museum.

Though best known for "Family Affair," Garver guest-starred in many other television series including "The Patty Duke Show," "The Rifleman," "The Big Valley," "Nash Bridges," "Matlock" and more. As a child, two of her earliest roles were in the classic movies "The Ten Commandments," starring Charlton Heston, and "Night of the Hunter," with Robert Mitchum and Shelly Winters. She recently completed two films due to be released in 2016, including "Executive Ranks," which was shot in Chicago.

Garver's appearance at The Museum of Broadcast Communications will include clips from her many TV series and films. A discussion, to be moderated by Chicago television personality Paul Lisnek, will be followed by a book signing. Garver is currently promoting her memoir, "Surviving Cissy: My Family Affair of Life in Hollywood" (Rowman & Littlefield/Taylor Trade).

"I feel honored to be a part of the history embedded in this intriguing museum," Garver said. "Discussing my new book and showing clips of my lifetime career brings me close to my friends and fans who love classic stars and realize their importance in the fabric of our culture."

"Kathy Garver was an important part of one of television's most memorable ensemble casts on 'Family Affair' and we are honored to welcome her," added Bruce DuMont, the museum's founder and president. "She joins other classic TV actresses such as Betty White, Audrey Meadows, Barbara Billingsley, Esther Rolle, Charlotte Ray and Marion Ross, who have also appeared at the museum."

Founded in 1987, The Museum of Broadcast Communications features a wide range of educational programs, exhibits and archives devoted to television and radio programs, newscasts and commercials. It is also the home of the National Radio Hall of Fame.

"An Afternoon with Kathy Garver" will take place on Saturday, November 21, at 12:00 noon at The Museum of Broadcast Communications, 360 North State Street, Chicago, IL 60654-5411. Admission will be free on that date only. A portion of the proceeds from book sales at this event will benefit the museum.
