The talented members of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's Bravo Brass ensemble will hold their 14th Annual Festival Concert on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. The all-brass ensemble consists of promising high school and college-aged instrumentalists.  The performance will take place at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1625 Locust Street in Philadelphia, PA and will feature the music of Bizet, Gershwin, and Wagner.

Mercury Presents Mozart's REQUIEM, 5/13

Artistic Director Antoine Plante and Mercury present Mozart's Requiem, on Saturday, May 13 at 8 p.m. at the Wortham Center's Cullen Theater for the 2016-2017 season finale. A must-see for any music lover, Mozart's final composition is a profoundly moving work, brimming with drama, hopefulness and redemption. Audiences will experience this unforgettable masterpiece on period instruments. Joining Mercury are vocalists Yulia Van Doren (soprano), Sarah Mesko (alto), Aaron Sheehan (tenor) and Stephen Hegedus (bass), along with select members of the Houston Symphony Chorus under the direction of Betsy Cook Weber. The evening also includes Henry Purcell's Funeral Music for Queen Mary. New Jersey Symphony Performs Free Concerts in ROAD TRIP ACROSS THE USA Tour

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performs free concerts in parks throughout New Jersey in June and July, bringing a family-friendly “Road Trip Across the USA” program to six outdoor venues from Bergen County to West Windsor. The NJSO performs free concerts at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, Maxwell Place Park in Hoboken, Branch Brook Park in Newark, Mercer County Park in West Windsor and Marine Park in Red Bank.

The New York Philharmonic is celebrating Star Wars Day by giving Star Wars fans who come to the David Geffen Hall Box Office early access to tickets for the Star Wars Film Concert Series on May 4, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., before tickets go on sale widely to the public online at noon. Fans who arrive by 9:30 a.m. will be entered in a raffle to win a pair of free tickets to the Star Wars concert of their choice. Three winners will be announced at 10:00 a.m. The first 20 Star Wars fans to arrive in costume will receive official Star Wars merchandise and collectible vinyl. In addition, fans waiting in line will be entertained by members of the New York Philharmonic's brass section performing music from the Star Wars movies, and will have a chance to meet R2D2, Kylo Ren, stormtroopers, and other Star Wars characters from costumed fan groups. Those planning to attend are encouraged to spread the word on social media using #nypstarwars.
PYAO Presents 22nd Annual Festival Concert, 5/21

Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra (PYAO) members, ages 12 to 18, will present its 22nd Annual Festival Concert on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 300 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia. Conducted by Maestra Rosalind Erwin, the musical program will include Lee Hoiby's Overture to a Farce; Claude Debussy's Nuages et Fêtes from Noctunes; and George Gershwin's An American in Paris. The concert will feature the Young Artists Solo Competition winner -- cellist, Danny Bishop, who will perform Camille Saint-Saëns Concerto for Violoncello in A minor.
Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble Concludes 10th Anniversary With TRADITIONS Concert

Before Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE) leaves on its first international tour in July, the talented young musicians conclude their milestone 10th anniversary season by paying homage to the band tradition, as well as the ensemble's history in the Pacific Symphony family. The concert, “Traditions,” kicks off with Paul Basler's thrilling work, “Carnival,” followed by Johann Sebastian Bach's “Fervent is My Longing” (Chorale Prelude) and “Little” Fugue in G Minor. At the center are two cornerstone works for wind ensemble—Ralph Vaughan Williams' “English Folk Song Suite” and Gustav Holst's First Suite in E-flat—to celebrate the wind band culture's deep-rooted tradition. “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss Sr. concludes the concert on a victorious note.

Carnegie Hall Announces LINK UP School Program

Now in its 32nd season, Link Up is the longest-running school program of Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI). Designed for students in grades 3–5, the program facilitates deeper connections between the concert hall and the classroom through an instrument-focused curriculum that culminates in an annual participatory concert. This month marks the inaugural concerts of The Orchestra Swings—the first new Link Up curriculum since 2012—designed to introduce the idea of “swing” through a conversation between the symphony orchestra and a jazz septet. The nearly 15,000 New York City-area students and teachers who have adopted this program during the 2016–2017 school year will travel to Carnegie Hall for six culminating concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on May 23, 24, and 25.

The Conservatory Orchestra closes out the year with a program of 20th-century masterpieces, highlighting SFCM's spring focus on folk influences. Ruth Crawford Seeger's Rissolty, Rossolty explores heavy use of folk tunes, and the score to the iconic ballet, Petrushka, is ripe with Russian songs, expressed in a way that can only be termed 'Stravinskian.' Graduating voice student and concerto competition winner Natalie Image '17 joins the orchestra mid-concert for Samuel Barber's luscious Knoxville: Summer of 1915.
