'If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.' ~ Dalai Lama Inspirational fitness coach and former NFL running back, Prince Daniels, Jr. has released his first children's book, 'Danny Yukon & the Secrets of the Amazing Lamp' on Amazon.com (published by The Sager Group). The first story in a collection of books called the I'magíne Series created by Daniels, is co-written by award-winning author and Broadway playwright Pamela Hill-Nettleton and illustrated by Liza Biggers. The well-written and beautifully illustrated series aims to inspire youth and introduce them to meditation and its benefits, including enhanced focus, coping with loss, and overcoming fears. Daniels used the ancient practice to conquer obstacles in his own life, and aspired to introduce a new way for young people to approach and overcome adversity in their lives. 'I wrote this book because I wanted to teach children about meditating,' says Daniels. 'Children learn by mimicking what they see. Therefore, I created characters that they can relate to, and imitate. When the character succeeds, so does the child reading the book.' Danny Yukon and the Secrets of the Amazing Lamp is the story of a young boy who overcomes the loss of his father -a U.S. soldier serving in Afghanistan. As a result of the tragedy, he becomes mute. At night his dreams are haunted by a ferocious tiger. It is not until his uncle gives Danny an amazing lamp-and teaches him how to meditate- that he learns the key to his powers lie within. 'One of my main goals in life was to become an NFL player and I accomplished that,' says Daniels. 'When I was released from the Baltimore Ravens in 2009 and no longer had football, I had to come up with a new plan for my life, and meditation helped me to do that,' he continues. 'I hope that my story will help others; proving that any goal is achievable if you focus and work hard.' Daniels was raised in a home that was focused on education first; then athletics. After high school, he was accepted to Georgia Tech and earned a degree in Business Management. In his second year as a student at Tech, he walked on the football team, and later earned a scholarship. While playing for the Yellow Jackets, he was a two-time all-conference tailback, the fourth-leading rusher in Georgia Tech football history, with 3,300 yards. A two-time Academic All-ACC selection and elected team captain, Daniels was selected for the 2006 Hula Bowl, the college all-star classic. During Daniels's college career he had a noticeable game in 2003-04 Humanitarian Bowl where he ran for an NCAA bowl game record 311 yards on 31 attempts and 4 touchdowns. In the midst of adversity, AJ Tupps told her children stories. It started in 2003 when her husband, Chris, was diagnosed with cancer. She says she had to keep her children entertained during the long car rides, doctor appointments and hospital stays. Today these young-adult, science fiction stories have turned into books.
