Barcham Books Launches Kindle Direct Publishing Giveaway
by BWW News Desk - December 08, 2014
Title: 'Murder in Hand' (Alicia Allen Investigates Trilogy, Book 3) Author: Celia Conrad Copyright: 2012 Publisher: Barcham Books Pages: 352 Trade Paperback and All E-Book Formats ISBN 13: 978-0954623340 ASIN: B00A1O1YQE 'The greatest pleasures lie in Celia Conrad's refusal or inability to write for the lowest common denominator. Instead she aims for the highest.' -Midwest Book Review (Murder in Hand) On Dec. 13 through Dec. 14, Barcham Books will gift readers with Book 3 in Celia Conrad's Alicia Allen Investigates Trilogy (AAI), 'Murder in Hand' (MIH), as a free e-book via Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) Select program. 'It's our way of saying thank you and wishing everyone a happy holiday,' said Barcham Books' Jane Hall. 'We are very pleased that Midwest Book Review features Murder in Hand this month. Everyone, it seems, just loves Alicia.' This cerebral legal murder mystery turns on Italian international corruption, Puccini and dead Probate attorneys as it hails the return of Alicia Allen, the potato chip loving half-Italian London lawyer who never lets her thriving relationship with a handsome lawyer cohort stand in the way of fingering a culprit. 'The beauty of Murder in Hand is that it can be read as a stand-alone,' said Hall. Journalist Marlan Warren recently sat down with Celia Conrad to discuss her author's journey from law to legal crime fiction: Warren: All the AAI books deal with the darker side of the legal world. Did you draw from your experiences as a London attorney? Conrad: As a solicitor I met some rather obnoxious people and a few shady/unsavory characters. Warren: Did you ever find yourself pursuing a murderer in your law practice? Conrad: My world is far less dangerous than Alicia's, although we do share love for Italian culture and a crisp that rhymes with 'Tingles.' We both like researching and analyzing complex legal issues. Warren: The Italophile Book Review recommended MIH for 'Italophiles, Anglophiles, fans of traditional British mysteries, and fans of cozy-murder-mysteries.' Would you agree? Conrad: Absolutely. And I was thrilled when the Readers' Favorite 5-Star Award Review said Alicia 'should be on the top of every woman's reading list.' My fan mail shows AAI readers like strong but not perfect female detectives, and they love the repartee between Alicia and Alex. Warren: Book 1 sends Alicia through London's urban dangers. Book 2 takes her to Australia, and Book 3 spans New York, London, Italy and Sicily. Italian culture provides color and clues. What inspired you to use Puccini in Book 3? Conrad: When I first saw Puccini's opera, Gianni Schicchi, I hoped to use it in a plot of my own, and it did prove most 'handy' in 'Murder in Hand.' Warren: Can you sum up Alicia Allen? Conrad: She's a tough little cookie who will stop at nothing. Warren: And the theme of MIH ? Conrad: Forces of darkness are everywhere. Warren: What inspired you? Conrad: Paul Marsh at the Marsh Agency suggested my experiences could make good novels. Warren: Clues reside in Shakespeare, Italian opera and art. Why the Classics? Conrad: I've always loved the Classics, thanks to my mother who also loved theater. Before she passed away, we read and acted out scenes from the trilogy. Warren: This is a re-launch. Why? Conrad: AAI never had a launch because I was caught up in the losses of my mother and Paul Marsh at the time of publication. Paul thought MIH my best work yet. He said Alicia Allen deserved to find her audience. That support continues to sustain me. 'Stars That Make A Difference' Book to be Released 2015, Says Author
by BWW News Desk - December 07, 2014
Fans of such celebrities as Daniel Radcliffe, Ellen Degeneres, Marie Osmond or Taylor Swift can take comfort in knowing that they will soon be able to read more positive details about their favorite stars. 'We're looking at launching the first book shortly after the beginning of the year,' author Randy Jernigan told a Denver, Colorado radio station in an interview last month. 'This book series is the result of a lot of hard work. Not just in interviews, research and writing, but when you're dealing with celebrities it seems as if you have endless meetings with their reps-attorney's, agents and pr people. Before we publish we have to get the 'all clear' from their people. I think we're only waiting on one last approval and then we go to press.' Writing about the private lives of celebrities has been Randy Jernigan's bread and butter for the last twenty-two years, doing magazine features on Tom Cruise, Brittney Spears, even Justin Bieber. But, according to Jernigan, you're not about to find those names in his book. 'I've been very selective about who is included in this book series,' explained the author. ''Stars That Make A Difference' is about celebrities that have good reputations for giving back. Those celebs known for caring about their fans and their communities. Not to disrespect the kid but you're not about to find a biographical sketch of Bieber in one of my books-just not gonna happen,' Jernigan told the interviewer. When Jernigan first announced that he would be publishing biographical sketches on Radcliffe and Degeneres, the online tabloid press had a field day. 'They attributed things to me that I never said and sensationalized what I did say and caused my book project to look like it was going to be a tell all piece about these really great people that I have a great amount of respect for. This project is a far cry from a tell all,' explained the author. In the radio interview Jernigan made mention of the work actor Daniel Radcliffe does freely for the 'Trevor Project' and that of Marie Osmond and her devotion to sick children and 'The Children's Miracle Network.' Other stars to be included in the series are Ellen Degeneres and Taylor Swift. Both know for their big hearts and giving to those in need. According to officials at Creative Partners Publishing, the book will be released digitally for the first year, then go to paperback. 'Stars That Make A Difference' will be available at Amazon's Kindle and other digital platforms early next year.

Bryce Cullen Publishing Releases Actor's Debut Children's Book on the Power of Imagination
by BWW News Desk - December 07, 2014
Bryce Cullen Publishing's newest author, Greg McGoon, had his imagination running wild from an early age, from drawing countless sketches to hosting his own talk show-with his stuffed animals as the lucky audience members. Greg's true connection to children's storytelling began at the tender age of ten when he participated at the Claremont School of Theatre Arts' summer program. After four years as a student, he worked his way up through the ranks and stayed part of the family as an intern, an assistant teacher, an acting and movement teacher, and finally as an assistant director. Currently immersed in the world of theatre, Greg is also the founder and executive director of Artcentricity, a nonprofit that provides children early access to the arts. This outlet for appreciation, creativity, and engagement has a profound impact on improving these childrens' happiness and wellbeing, allowing for a curiosity to explore, develop, and ultimately realize talents that will last a lifetime. Artcentricity truly celebrates every child's personal artistic style. "Out of the Box," a heartwarming story of the power of one boy's imagination, is Greg McGoon's debut children's book. Protagonist Devin stays true to himself and persists on his journey of making a connection, never giving up when others just don't see what he sees inside a seemingly ordinary cardboard box. Illustrated by Elettra Cudignotto and just released by Bryce Cullen Publishing, "Out of the Box" can be ordered worldwide from most major booksellers.
