Serge Alexandr Releases First Book, THE RISE OF ARES by BWW News Desk
- March 07, 2016 Serge Alexandr is bursting onto the scene with his debut novel The Rise of Ares: Mortal Sins, the first installment in the Ares trilogy.
The Rise of Ares is a story ripe for the times, exploring a future society that never addressed the social issues we see today, and what it means to be highly technologically advanced in a world where inequality exists.
Serge Alexandr paints a realistic, terrifyingly believable future in which financial inequality has quite literally split the race into two-those that can afford genetic manipulation and those that cannot.
Ares, the main character, is forced on a journey across a solar system filled with engineering marvels and social atrocities as he tries to flee the Bank for default, where, beneath the shiny veneer of the inner solar system, we find a society on the verge of change, plagued by dissonance, decadence, hidden AI, and strange rumors from the fringes of the outer system.
But there is nowhere to hide in a universe where everything, and everyone, is an eye. Ares soon discovers there is more to the events in his life than he ever realized. That realization, that he is a pawn in a game he can't even fathom, sends him spiraling down a slow, dark, madness.
The exorbitant characters very much drive the story as they rampage through the solar system in pursuit of power and wealth.
Sure to be a classic, The Rise of Ares can be found at most major retailers, or on the author's website, sergealexandr.com.
'A fresh, thought provoking, and exhilarating read. The universe Serge creates is both a backdrop for the roller coaster storyline, and an eye opening commentary on humanity: not only of our struggle with existence, but with our technology, forms of economy and governance, and even equality. It's what you'd imagine if H.G.Wells, Isaac Asimov, and Ayn Rand were alive today and collaborated.' -JH
About the Author-Serge Alexandr resides in the Pacific Northwest, where he can be found hiking, painting, and writing. For more information, visit sergealexandr.com.
Mrs. Kate E. Sukuta Shares PRECIOUS MT. SILINDA UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST MISSION by BWW News Desk
- March 07, 2016 The book, 'Precious Mt. Silinda United Church of Christ (UCC) Mission,' by Mrs. Kate E. Sukuta is an informative book about Western Christian missionary work in Zimbabwe, Africa. The author found herself in a unique position of witnessing over a century of Christian work through her parents' eyes starting in the late nineteenth century and then her own eyes and those of her late husband. As we enter the twenty-first century, she feels obligated to share this gift God gave her with the rest of the world.
The book presents Western missionaries, past and prospective, and the congregations that supported them a great opportunity to see Africans and the impact of their work through African eyes. Many missionaries who went to Africa have written on this same subject matter, but what makes this book particularly unique is that it shares with the world an African viewpoint.
The book specifically covers the impact of the UCC in Zimbabwe, and how Mrs. Sukuta's family and Africans in general were influenced by Christian missionaries. First, the book explains how Tshaka Zulu's wars in the early nineteenth century, paved a trail of blood that led the UCC founding missionaries from Natal/KwaZulu, South Africa to present day Mt. Silinda in Zimbabwe. Next, she explains how the killing fields of Mt. Silinda were turned into a Christian mission center overnight, and how her parents got involved with the missionaries right at the start.
Mrs. Sukuta then exhaustively covers how African education, health, religion, agriculture, and the status of women in African society were impacted by Christian missionary work. She navigates through these issues using first-hand family accounts and her own life story at Mt. Silinda UCC Mission in Zimbabwe, Africa. Inevitably, this book serves the threefold purpose of being a partial account of the history of Mt. Silinda Mission and the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe as well the authors own autobiography, for the three are just inseparable. Overall, it can be viewed as a 'Century's Report Card' for the United Church of Christ and Christian missionary work in Africa in general.
The book is marketed by Sukuta Technologies, LLC and is now available for sale almost exclusively through the online store.

Redemption Press Announces 'The Orphan Syndrome: Breaking Free & Finding Home' by BWW News Desk
- March 07, 2016 In the classic Bob Dylan song Ballet of a Thin Man, the tortured protagonist cries out, 'Oh my God, am I here all alone?' Being alone can be a refreshing time of solitude, a time of reflection and inspiration. Many people seek such a time of isolation as a way of restoring their emotional balance. A good book, a quiet walk on the beach, or times of prayer can be cathartic and healing from a busy and demanding world. These are good things when one chooses them.
In his book, Dr. Nick Eno states for some, this isolation is not an elective but a forced state of being that leaves indelible scars on one's soul. There are innumerable causes for the deep wounds cut so deep into our being. Childhood trauma such as physical, emotional or sexual abuse; parental abandonment, either physical or emotional; rape; abortion; or divorce are among the events that can leave gashes on our psyche. Ultimately, these lead to a place where we hear an inner voice telling us, 'you're on your own, you're all alone here.'
Dr. Nick Eno, a counselor in Dallas, calls this the orphan syndrome. He writes, 'This feeling of being an orphan in the world is wounding and debilitating; keeping too many people from finding joy and satisfaction in life.' In the introduction to his new book, 'The Orphan Syndrome, Breaking Free and Finding Home,' (Enumclaw, WA. Redemption Press, 2016 ISBN# 978-1-63232-647-8). Dr. Eno shows what the orphan syndrome looks like. He introduces us to Heather, forty-nine, a mother of two grown children. Her revealing opening statement is, 'I am so tired, so dry inside.' She felt disconnected from her children and unloved by her husband.
'Heather had professed Christ when she was nine, but had never experienced the kind of personal relationship that others often describe. Heather worked really hard to dot the I's and cross the t's in her life-college degree, married with children by twenty-five, a very successful career in real estate, and active in her church and community. Yet there she sat in my office-fearful, lonely, depressed, on the verge of divorce, in constant physical pain, and feeling very alienated from God and her family. She feels like an orphan. Heather has an orphan spirit.' There are more orphans around you than you might know. (excerpt from page xiii)
There is a bumper sticker that says, 'Be nice to everyone you meet because they are each in some kind of battle.' You know it's true. And some of the people you will encounter feel like orphans, alone even in a crowd.
Is there a cure for this condition? The author believes there is. Dr. Eno teaches that growing in God is the solution and cure for the orphan syndrome. He writes: 'There is no shortcut to Christian maturity. It takes time as well as our cooperation. It is a process, not an event. Too often we want God to deliver us by miracles. However, God wants to develop our character so we can apply his principles, and not end up in the graves that we dig for ourselves. No one is an orphan, spiritually, except by choice.' (excerpt from page xiv)
As the publisher, they are well aware that overcoming this syndrome is hard work, very hard work. But Dr. Nick's words offer encouragement for those of us wounded by life. He writes, 'There is hope for every orphan spirit through the healing power of Jesus Christ and the grace that is freely offered to each one of us, a gift from God our heavenly Father.' (excerpt from page xvi)
Jesus said, '... seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you.' (Matt 7:7b&c) Words to encourage and to offer hope.
