The second production of the 2013-14 season presented by American Repertory of WNY is a story of the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson entitled LITTLE ROBERT, written by prolific and award winning local playwright Mark Humphrey (author of the acclaimed MR. BENNY and the one-act presented through ART/WNY's One Act showcase, MECHANICS).. Directed by Gail Golden (fresh from directing last season's uproarious MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS) features the talents of award winning actor Hugh Davis and Robert Ernie Insana. The show, originally set to close on Nov. 23, will play an additional performance on Nov. 29 at 7:30 pm.

Road Less Traveled Productions Kicks Off 5th Annual Buffalo Young Writers Contest

Road Less Traveled Productions today announced a Call for Work for its 5th Annual Buffalo Young Writers (BYW) contest. The professionally run, non-profit theatre company encourages Western New York (WNY) area students (ages 15 through 23, currently enrolled in school) to write and submit a ten-minute play. In the 2014 contest, one grand-prize winner (selected by RLTP) will receive $200 cash, a one-year paid membership to the Dramatists Guild of America, and will see their play produced at the Road Less Traveled Theater. Four runners up also will receive readings of their submissions, as well as complementary tickets to RLTP shows.

The Rochester Community Players opens its 90th season with a production of Shakespeare's roiling political tragedy, Julius Caesar. The play tells the tale of the conspiracy to assassinate 'the foremost man of all this world', the famous funeral oration of Mark Antony, which turned the fickled mob against the murderers, and the downfall of the conspirators Brutus and Cassius.
