the moon rituals at Prospect Park

Enjoy a ninety-minute reading of a cathartic & comedic play by Laura Neill, under the beautiful Brooklyn sky! Join the moon rituals team for a staged reading at the Prospect Park Peristyle on Friday, August 7th at 6:30pm.

In the moon rituals, five friends desperate to heal their pelvic pain form an amateur witches’ coven to cast a healing spell... and accidentally summon a demon. This sets off a cascade of rituals that can only end when they figure out the demon isn't the only one who can make up the rules. It's a play about claiming your own body and your own voice, about finding healing through community -- and laughter.

This event is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council. The play is co-produced by Thalia Sablon and Murmuration Theatre Company, and co-directed by Kelleen Moriarty and Thalia Sablon.

This is a show by someone with pelvic & uterine disability, designed to be a cathartic (and funny) experience. There are frequent and irreverent mentions of uterine/pelvic illnesses, pain, hysterectomy, miscarriage, blood, pain with sex. There are brief mentions of suicidal ideation and oblique references to past domestic abuse/assault (not shown).
